At Fallow Grange, live a life of ease. Grade II-listed and originally built in the 1700s, its recent restoration has resulted in a light, bright and welcoming interior. The house sleeps six in three en-suite bedrooms, meaning there’s plenty of space for everyone. While an ideal base for the city, its tranquil setting means you’d be forgiven for thinking you’re cocooned in the heart of the countryside.
As you enter, step into a peaceful stone-flagged hallway, with coat hooks, a cool palette, and creatively placed period furnishings. From here, you can head into one of the house’s most impressive spaces: its large, open-plan kitchen and dining area. With windows and patio doors spanning a vast area within, this area offers itself up for creative cooking and slow, conversational breakfasts. When spring and summer bloom, throw the doors wide to flit in and out at your leisure.
For restful evenings, seek out the soft sofa and armchairs in the cosy sitting room. Stretch out, snuggle down and take time away for yourself – there’s even an antique desk if you’re inspired to pen a hand-written letter home.
Upstairs, you’ll find the same classic-meets-modern comfort. The sloping ceilings, oval mirrors and latched windows may echo times gone by, but where it counts, the choice is contemporary luxury. Comfortable beds, soft carpets, well-outfitted en-suite bathrooms – these are bedrooms that beckon long lie-ins with a Sunday paper.
Head out into the wraparound garden to discover yet another space for relaxation. Take your pick from two outdoor dining areas, settling wherever the sunlight falls and your fancy takes you.
From here, it’s just a short 15-20-minute walk to the centre of Chichester, meaning you can dip in and out of the city as you choose. Shopping, culture, or a quick stroll for breakfast pastries – they’re all within easy reach.
Fallow Grange’s location also makes it an excellent property for Goodwood events, with use of its garage meaning that you can opt to drive or walk as you wish, knowing that your car is safely stowed away back at base.

Chichester’s vibrant city centre offers so much to enjoy during your stay. If you’re cued by culture, steer yourself towards the Pallant House Gallery and Chichester Festival Theatre. If you’re a fan of history, set out to soak up the atmosphere at Chichester Cathedral or Boxgrove Priory, or take a walk along the city walls. And of course, from here it’s not far to the Goodwood estate and its many events and special occasions.

For a relaxed and family friendly meal, make the 10-minute drive to CHK Ristorante for fab pizza. A great place to pop in after a long day on the coast.
What to do in the local area
Make the most of all that Goodwood offers and enjoy a day at the races, or book tickets in advance for the Festival of Speed or the Revival. If you're visiting with young children there are beaches galore nearby. Head to East Wittering for surfing.
