Experience the best of Brighton at Amira
Holiday time often seems to run to its own entirely separate clock. Getting away means creating an opportunity to press pause on the rush of everyday life and enter wind-down mode. At Amira, our oceanside bolthole in Brighton, this shift feels particularly seamless.
Styled for serenity
Its pared-back, Japandi-infused interior, indoor-outdoor spaces and thoughtful touches make Amira a haven in its own right. But, when the will to wander takes you, there’s so much more to explore.
Brighton brims with things to do, from arts and cultural destinations to the simple beauty of an early morning beach stroll.

Coastal spaces
Outside your window, an impressive seascape unfolds. Coastal allure is the theme of the day, making a walk to the water the natural next step. Ten minutes on foot will take you to the seafront, where you can promenade in true Victorian style. And, if you have a little longer, you might continue on to Brighton beach, where a cosmopolitan busy-ness gives plenty of options for activities: cafes in which to sip coffee, sand for sinking toes, and a selection of sports to try. Volleyball, basketball, pétanque, beach tennis… This is the destination to stretch out those weary limbs and enliven the mind.
If you prefer your coast less crowded, quieter beaches are close at hand. Hove Lawns (named for its adjoining green space) is a good choice for families, while the peaceful pebbled shores of Ovingdean Beach are a great nearby option: around a 30-minute walk away from Amira. Kemptown Beach is a real locals’ favourite – though it sits on the seafront, it’s usually far quieter than other spots, especially in peak season.
You could also…
- Pair a refreshing sea swim with a session at the Beach Box sauna.
- Stroll along the promenade for a coffee and pastry from The Flour Pot. If you like the fun of cooking together, you could also pick up a sourdough pizza kit for later.

A lively cultural hub
It doesn’t take long for Brighton’s vibrant spirit and small-town friendliness to seep into your skin. This is a city alive with culture and interest, from eye-catching architecture to bright local colour. So, make sightseeing a built-in joy of your stay: look up, explore, and stay curious as you discover its legendary (and lesser-spotted) delights.
Creativity abounds in large and small ways. Galleries, museums, live music and theatre are all within easy reach. Helm is your go-to for contemporary art, while Brighton Museum & Art Gallery encompasses everything from archaeology to fashion. But it’s not just Brighton’s attractions that hum with energy: you’ll find the same cool-creative strand in its independent shops, pop-ups, and artisan cafés.
You could also…
- Pack a picnic for a summer’s afternoon concert in the Royal Pavilion Garden.
- Watch a performance at The Brighton Dome, which stages everything from ballet and music to stand-up comedy.

Shared treats and leisurely suppers
Life’s best holidays can be bookmarked by the things we’ve tasted – food and drink often serve as a gateway to the true identity of a place. In Brighton and Hove, this “food palette” is every bit as colourful and diverse as you’d expect. Here, you can tour the world’s cuisines, from the elegant European dishes at venues such as Petit Pois and Burnt Orange, to Indian and Asian-inspired street food at Jamun Restaurant.
If you’re out and about during the day, The Reading Room café is a warm, Regency-era space in which to unwind. And of course, here beside the water, there’s a plentiful supply of fresh fish. At The Salt Room, overlooking Brighton’s iconic West Pier, seafood is cooked over smouldering charcoal for a truly sensory experience.
You could also…
- Cool off with an artisan ice cream from Boho Gelato, near Brighton Pier.
- Visit Knoops in The Lanes for a transformational hot chocolate, choosing your own percentage (from 28% white to 100% extra dark) to create your “just-right” blend.

Off the beaten track
Overlooking Brighton Marina, Amira places you at the heart of city culture – but if you treasure those all-important pockets of peace, you can swap the hustle and bustle for something lower-gear. Not far away, the Undercliff Path stretches for five kilometres along the coastline and on to Rottingdean and Saltdean. It’s a scenic route for laid-back walking, but it’s also a flat, well-surfaced trail for cycling (so if you’d like help with equipment hire, just let us know).
From Brighton, you can head north to the sweeping South Downs National Park, where the horizon enfolds chalk grasslands, historic woodlands, and vast heaths. If you’re travelling car-free, dedicated buses run from Brighton, stopping off at Devil’s Dyke, Stanmer Park and beautiful Ditchling Beacon.
You could also…
- Take the plunge at Saltdean Lido, a crescent-shaped modernist pool evoking the charm of the 1930s “English seaside resort”.
- Immerse yourself in art and nature at Charleston: the onetime home and gardens of painter Vanessa Bell, set in the South Downs countryside.

Time well spent
If you’re seeking a city break at a coastal pace, Amira may just be your home from home. But of course, this holiday time is fleeting – making it all the better for moments dedicated to rest and rejuvenation. Alongside local activities and exploration, we can help build in space for you through additional housekeeping and laundry, private chefs, and in-house spa and beauty treatments. This really is a bolthole designed to nurture, meaning all you need to do is unpack, unwind, and start feeling the benefits.
