The luxury guide to Glorious Goodwood

Epitomising sophistication, style, and a quintessentially British glamour, Goodwood is a national institution. For centuries, this vast estate has presided over the local landscape – but today, it’s known as the home of some of the country’s most illustrious sporting events.

A very English sporting estate

Every year, Goodwood welcomes thousands of visitors to its landmark events and festivals, including the Goodwood Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and summer horse racing fixtures. So, whether you’re marking a special occasion or simply syncing your getaway with Goodwood’s event calendar, this is your guide to experiencing it all in elevated style – at the estate and beyond.

Festival of Speed, 10–13 July 2025

Described as “motorsport’s ultimate summer garden party”, the Festival of Speed tempers the high-octane sphere of motor racing with a typically English brand of elegance.

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the Formula 1 World Championship, which will be honoured with a hillclimb featuring prestigious F1 cars and drivers. Across the weekend, you can also expect supercar debuts, hands-on exhibits, and a showcase of exceptional and beautiful vehicles, past and present.

Make it memorable…

  • Book tickets for Goodwood’s exclusive Library Lawn Garden Party, which forms a peaceful aside from the action, with drinks, a brunch buffet, and access to all 12 public grandstands.
  • Or embrace the full VIP treatment with tickets to Surtees, encompassing Michelin-starred menus, private enclosure access, and a personalised concierge service.

Qatar Goodwood Festival, 29 July–2 August 2025

Across five glorious days, the Qatar Goodwood Festival brings elite horse racing to the West Sussex countryside. Premier flat races, renowned riders, live music and famously good food and drink – all combine to form an unforgettable show, set against the rolling South Downs.

Held on Thursday 31 July, the festival’s Ladies’ Day is one of its highlights, with a chic dress code and picture-perfect moments. In the Gordon Enclosure, the Earl’s Lawn provides a backdrop for food, music, and mingling. And of course, there are the races themselves, including the million-pound Qatar Sussex Stakes and the Magnolia Cup charity race.

Make it memorable…

  • Keep things informal yet indulgent by upgrading your tickets with entry to The Sussex Roof Garden: a lush, botanical-themed bar serving drinks and light lunches.
  • If you’re dressing up, capture the day with a pre-event photo-shoot – our partners feature professional photographers based in Sussex.

Goodwood Revival, 12–14 September 2025

Legendary cars, iconic fashion and a hearty dose of nostalgia… Goodwood Revival is one of the best loved events in West Sussex. This joyful celebration of all things vintage brings us all out in high spirits and period finery.

The Revival transports Goodwood back in time to the heyday of classic motor racing. For three marvellous days, veteran engines thrum to the strains of music from the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s, while aircraft fly overhead. If you’re thinking of attending, do dress to impress – admiration is usually earned by those sporting true bygone style.

Make it memorable…

  • Plan ahead for a fabulous lunch or picnic supper. Goodwood’s hospitality options include three-course lunches; or, for something more casual, ‘Best of British’ picnic hampers can be ordered in advance.
  • Hire a costume from one of Sussex’s local outlets. Mad Hatter Fancy Dress and Cotswolds Costumes both offer heritage-inspired attire, from wartime tea dresses and military uniforms to colourful 1960s pieces.

And there’s so much more…

If you can’t make it to these headline events, Goodwood stages many others throughout the year.

  • From May to October, the racecourse runs regular horse racing fixtures, with this year’s season finale taking place on Sunday 12 October. If you’re attending, you can choose to hire a private suite or box including formal or informal dining.
  • The Goodwood Breakfast Club is a laid-back motoring show held on four Sundays during summer. It’s free to attend, with donations encouraged for The Aldingbourne Trust.
  • The estate also holds events such as supper clubs, sessions, sporting activities and house tours, so do check what’s on if you’re planning an escape to West Sussex.
