With the adventurous lure of a classic treehouse and the luxury comforts of a high-end home, this unusual bolthole offers a window onto an entirely new world. Here, you can disconnect, reconnect and unwind, with the beautiful British countryside as your backdrop.
That away-from-it-all feeling starts the moment you arrive. Fallows’ home estate is a car-free zone (though electric buggies are available to hire), meaning you can step things down a gear by approaching on foot. A scenic 15-minute walk brings you to your door, and the start of something special.
But, while this is a treehouse, you can shake off those childhood memories –inside, it’s clean, calm and wonderfully contemporary. The fantastic views are there, but so, too, are the thoughtful touches: underfloor heating, superfast WiFi, and even ramp access, meaning there’s no need to venture up branch by branch.
The living area is open plan, with patio doors leading out to a private wraparound balcony; perfect for a peaceful yoga flow (mats are provided) or early morning coffee. There are games, guidebooks and a smart TV included, but with so much to see, you may find equal contentment in a comfortable seat with a pair of binoculars.
A super-king bed makes Fallows an ideal escape for couples, although sofa beds for two children are on-hand if you’re travelling as a family. Dogs are welcome too, and with a woodland trail just below you, they’re likely to enjoy exploring just as much as their owners.
Other essentials include a cosy kitchen stocked with Le Creuset cookware (conjuring images of steaming stews and ragus), coffee-making facilities, and an oven, hob and dishwasher. There’s a bathroom with a walk-in shower, but the highlight of any stay has to be Fallows’ outdoor bath, which invites you to sink and soak while taking in the treetops and countryside beyond.
And, as night falls, nature puts on the greatest show of all: with light pollution so low, the night sky dazzles and stargazing becomes the finest way to round off a day. So, grab one of the warm blankets – set aside especially for evenings like these – and put your feet up on the terrace.
Surrounded by 16 acres of ancient woodland, with farmland and polo lawns in the distance, Fallows is a bolthole that feels more like an escape. As one of only four treehouses on the estate, it offers blissful seclusion, but with all the amenities that make life luxurious.
