Overview

Encompassing thousands of acres of wild countryside and parkland, the Grade II-listed Halverton Hall charts a long pedigree of entertaining. Built as a family estate in 1738, it’s long been a seat for country sports and became a popular base for hunting and equestrian parties during the 19th and early 20th centuries. Today, through a strong focus on sustainability, its family aims to preserve this landscape – and others – for future generations.

Grand and generous, Halverton Hall can accommodate up to 18 guests, across nine bedrooms and six bathrooms. Each bedroom is uniquely styled, with the principal rooms featuring impressive, statement beds. Throughout the house, sensitive interior design is used to highlight the ornate architectural features and historic craftsmanship you’ll find here.

This feeling is mirrored in a prevailing tone of understated luxury. Rare antiques shine alongside contemporary art, while the tasteful use of technology incorporates the functionality of a high-end modern home. Although the house is imposing, the owners have perfected the kind of delicate balance that nevertheless encourages you to unwind and put your feet up.

And of course, there’s plenty of space to do just that. The property’s many reception spaces include a sitting room, playroom, drawing room, and two dining rooms: one in the stately former library. This means that after a day in the open air, you can come back to a classically warm welcome and some well-earned rest.

Outside, nature really knows how to put on a show. A gravel drive leads you towards the house, passing sophisticated topiary, lawns and sculptures, which enhance the existing beauty of your surroundings. Halverton Hall’s gardens are landscaped to immaculate effect, showing off the estate and Shropshire Hills beyond.

While staying at Halverton Hall, experience British country life at its best. The estate offers ample opportunities to try your hand at sporting pursuits, so whether you enjoy horse riding, cycling, fishing, wild swimming, or simply walking beside the lake, the call of the wild is ever-present.

Within the grounds, you’ll also find an outdoor heated pool and pool house, stables, and courts for tennis and racket ball. From April to September, guests can also opt for daily hire of the cricket pitch, which includes access to the pavilion – perfect for a true taste of the English countryside. If you’re looking for a more closely curated experience, we can also compile a bespoke package for your stay; just let us know how we can help.

With so much to offer, Halverton Hall is an elegant and exclusive base for family holidays, From grandparents to grandchildren, with space, interest, and outdoor activities for everyone. Defining luxury across the generations, this is rural life at its very finest.
