Oak Lodge is a beautiful country home nestled in the pretty village of Birdham, a short drive from West Wittering beach, and within close proximity to Chichester, Goodwood, and the South Downs National Park.
This impressive property has a modern yet inviting interior, with thoughtful details that create a relaxed and homely feel.
There are eight luxurious bedrooms, including a super king bedroom on the ground floor with wheel-in en suite wet room, and direct, floor-level access from the garden. All the bedrooms are beautifully designed, with stylish finishes and sumptuous bed linen and towels.
At the heart of this luxurious home, is a spacious, open-plan kitchen which is ideally equipped for entertaining. A huge island stands in the centre of the room and provides the perfect spot for a leisurely breakfast or early evening drink. There’s also a cosy kitchen-snug, where you can curl up with a magazine or unwind in front of the TV.
Across the hall, an elegant dining room which comfortably seats 14, and offers the perfect setting for a family lunch or glamorous dinner party. Modern art and pretty mirrors adorn the walls and add visual interest alongside the giant abacus and artists' easel.
The sitting room, or ‘blue room’, is a wonderful place to relax after an action-packed day at the beach. Listen to the gentle crackle of the wood burner as you burrow away with a book, or enjoy one of the many board games on offer. There's also a piano to keep the musical ones entertained.
But if your idea of relaxation is watching a good movie, then grab some popcorn and hunker down in the cinema room for the night. This room also doubles up as a brilliant den and will keep children happy for hours.
Oak Lodge is tucked away behind a gated entrance and set in just over an acre of land. At the front of the property, there’s ample parking for 10 cars, and to the rear, a large south-facing garden where you’ll find no shortage of places to relax and unwind. There’s also a secure, child-friendly area with a trampoline, outdoor table tennis table, two BBQs, and for the ultimate relaxation - a hot tub and outdoor sound system.

Birdham, West Sussex
Birdham is a peaceful, sailing village five miles south of Chichester on the Manhood Peninsular. A short drive from the sensational blue badge beach in West Wittering, and within easy reach Goodwood, Oak Lodge is a great base for a family holiday, friendly getaway, or a glamorous event. Birdham also has its own marina, where Arthur Ransom, author of 'Swallows and Amazons' kept his boat 'Lottie Blossom' in the 1950's and is said to have paid a mere 50p a week in berthing charges.

Where to eat and drink
The area boasts many places to eat and drink, in Chichester and on the Manhood Peninsula itself.
If the weather isn't great, head to the Drift-In for coffee, or if you're luck with the weather visit Drifters which is closer to the beach and outside. Both can be found in East Wittering.
The Boat House in Chichester Marina is a lovely scenic boating environment for lunch or dinner. We also love The Witterings in West Wittering, for gastro pub food and big garden.
What to do in the local area
Fantastic walks can be had at the end of West Wittering Beach, around the beautiful East Head. Or venture in and around Goodwood, for stunning South Downs trails.
There are so many things to do nearby, from hiring surf boards on Wittering Beach to kayaking trips with Fluid Adventures. A visit to Chichester Festival Theatre is a must, experience the historic ambience of Chichester Cathedral, plus the diverse shopping on offer. Don’t miss the renowned Pallant House Art Gallery, Goodwood, and the Roman remains in Fishbourne to name just a few.
