Nestled in a tiny village, deep within the rolling hills of the South Downs and surrounded by its own private estate, The Farmhouse is the ultimate luxury retreat for family and friends. This stunning, architecturally designed, single-storey home has been lovingly restored in recent years and oozes relaxed sophistication.

Stepping into the central courtyard – a nod to Mediterranean living – with its beautiful flint stone walls and full-height Crittall doors, it doesn't take long before your shoulders soften and "holiday mode" sets in.

Inside, sumptuous finishes and art-filled walls (many painted by the owner: an artist and interior designer), coupled with a fabulous open-plan design, create a light but homely ambience throughout this special property.

The Farmhouse comfortably sleeps 12, with three en-suite bedrooms in the main house and three in the adjacent barn. Each room is swathed in luxurious finishes and sumptuous bedding to ensure a blissful night's sleep. A neutral palette flows throughout the tranquil bathrooms, complemented by beautiful pieces of art and furniture.

The Farmhouse's impressive double-height kitchen, with exposed beams and soft, earthy tones, is ideally equipped for entertaining. Here, you'll find a Falcon range cooker, an American-style fridge freezer, a central island, and a large dining table, meaning even the cook needn't miss the party. Simply open the doors into courtyard and breathe in the fresh country air. If you prefer a more formal affair, or you're hiring a private chef, there's a stunning dining room along the hall.

The elegant drawing room is cleverly split into three meticulously planned areas, each leading seamlessly to the next. Cosy up with a book next to the log fire in the snug, sip cocktails in the reception room, or tuck yourself away in the study. Exquisite art and treasured artefacts line every surface as a reminder of the owners' heritage and creative flair.

Outside, there’s plenty of space for al fresco dining and entertaining, a croquet lawn with spectacular views across the Downs, and a cosy fire pit to keep you warm as you while away the evenings under the stars at this incredible property.

Owner recommendations

Where to eat and drink

The Horse & Groom is our go-to favourite for an indulgent evening meal with friends. It’s about a 15-minute drive away, in East Ashling.

What to do in the local area

The Goodwood Farm Shop is great for stocking up on supplies.

There are so many walks to choose from nearby, but the scenery at Kingley Vale, including the yew forest, is pretty special.
