Montclare Estate
Cannich by Beauly, Inverness-shire
Price from £24,000 per night
Wrap yourself in natural splendour at the Montclare Estate. With exclusive access, you’ll have this Highland retreat all to yourselves; it’s reserved for just one family or group at a time. Here, you can unwind amid 10,000 acres of natural landscape, before gathering in luxurious living spaces.
Vast and private, the Montclare Estate sets you at the centre of your own Scottish story. Each stay sleeps up to 24 guests in complete comfort, complemented by enviable facilities. Groups can spread out across three attractive properties, meaning there’s ample room for everyone to relax.
The Estate Lodge has been carefully restored to pair modern essentials with Highland charm. Here, seven bedrooms sleep up to 14 guests, with spaces featuring wood panelling, four-posters, and period furnishings. At the Green House, the tone is modern-botanical; three rooms (two double, and one twin) sleep six guests in light, airy interiors. And at White Cottage, a smaller group (up to four, in two bedrooms) can find tranquillity at the water’s edge.
Just outside your door, you’ll find exceptional experiences. As a traditional Scottish estate, Montclare offers a fantastic range of outdoor activities, from hiking and biking to country pursuits. On the loch, you can boat, paddle-board, or try peaceful Canadian canoeing. The river is home to wild brown trout and salmon – tempting keen fisher-folk – while the estate hosts sports like clay pigeon shooting, archery, and seasonal deer stalking.
For nest days and evenings, groups can come together for games, films, and drinks by the fire. The estate has its own games room, which is part billiards lounge, part private cinema (with a large, state-of-the-art screen), and several sitting rooms for stretching out in. And, placing wellness at the fore, the on-site spa and fitness studio connect body and mind beside a serene natural backdrop.
Offering exclusive estate accommodation, this magnificent place is both a base for explorers and a destination in its own right. With so much at hand, there’s little need to go elsewhere – outdoor activities and deep relaxation are all part of Montclare’s gentle rhythm.
