Set amid the vast Hazelbrook Estate, The Barn combines woodland tranquillity with luxurious contemporary facilities.
Once a hive of rural craftsmanship, this former Sussex barn has been thoughtfully reinvented for modern country living. Exposed oak beams and natural textures are balanced by clean lines, open spaces, and an easy, effortless charm. Set within 17 acres of shared gardens and grounds, it’s the perfect escape for families and nature lovers alike.
With so much surrounding space and scenery, The Barn adopts a reverse-level layout, allowing sunlight to flood its upper floor. Windows become points to pause and watch the natural world – and its wildlife – go by. Holidays here carry a slower pace.
The ground floor is designed for restful nights, featuring four bedrooms and a family bathroom. For adaptability, The Barn offers a variety of configurations, including a master, double, twin (with an optional third bed) and the perennial children’s favourite: a triple bunk. If you need a little extra, the second floor’s open mezzanine – reached by a paddle staircase – can be transformed into a fifth space for older sleepers, with a pull-out double bed.
The bright and airy first floor is where everyone comes together. Beneath lofty ceilings, you’ll find the open-plan kitchen, living, dining, and play areas, which form the social hub of your stay. On sunny days, patio doors lead straight onto the balcony terrace, where group meals can be shared al fresco. As evenings draw in, retreat to the warmth of an open fire.
At The Barn, modern luxuries elevate the rural idyll. Alongside everyday comforts like televisions, toiletries, and a Sonos sound system, you’ll find indulgent extras. A private outdoor hot tub and fire pit create the setting for late-night stargazing, while in the wider estate, shared facilities include a treehouse, fishing lake, tennis court, and zip wire.
With so much to do, The Barn is a wonderful base for families, friends, and multigenerational stays. From here, you can walk, play and cycle (bikes can be arranged on request), or venture out to explore the West Sussex coast and countryside. The Barn is available to book independently, or for larger groups, the Hazelbrook Estate can also be reserved on an exclusive basis.
