Tucked within a 100-acre family estate, The Waterside Retreat in Hampshire is a contemporary escape that forms the ideal group getaway. Combining unparalleled views and complete privacy, this is a dog-friendly bolthole that’s all about space, light and nature. And, beyond your doorstep, you can discover the estate’s fantastic facilities, including outdoor activities, workshops and experiences.
Designed to showcase its surroundings, The Waterside Retreat is peaceful, modern, and wonderfully expansive. On all sides, floor-to-ceiling windows gaze out on the surrounding parkland and tranquil waters, while earthy colours and textures help to bring that awe-inspiring nature inside. Alongside this, there’s a 1950s, Italian-style opulence with modern art, rich velvets and vintage accessories.
From the initial “wow” of the vast entrance hall, it’s clear that this large group retreat in Hampshire has been crafted to impress.. The compelling contrast between modern architecture and ancient landscape continues as you flow through the house – amid all those trees and ebbing water, there’s a luxury home that’s all yours. Seven spacious, en-suite bedrooms – each with a king-sized bed – make this an ideal bolthole for families and friends.
When you’re ready to unwind, there’s a spacious living and dining area, complete with a fireplace. Gather together for drinks or a game of table football, or host an impromptu film night in one of the house’s two television snugs. If you’re seeking a wellbeing boost to start your day, you can also head to your own gym. And, if you’re rustling up sharing suppers, you’ll find a state-of-the-art kitchen, with essential equipment including a Nespresso coffee machine.
Outside, experience the beautiful synergy of land and water. Set on the banks of the River Itchen, The Waterside Retreat creates an opportunity for cold-water swimming in the river and lake; though there’s also a private heated pool and wood-fired hot tub, if you prefer things a little warmer. As evening falls, stretch out on the comfy outdoor sofas, light the barbecue and fire pit, and marvel at the peace of the many acres surrounding you.
Though the property is self-contained and secluded (there are no overlooking neighbours here), the wider estate’s facilities are close at hand. Whatever you need – from paddleboards and canoes to a lakeside picnic – you’ll find it here. Group experiences and activities include fishing, tennis, clay shooting and golf, making this an ideal escape to the country, within easy reach of the city.
