This varies from property to property, as each home in our collection is privately owned and managed. Some owners provide an initial supply of logs or kindling as part of your welcome, while others may ask that you source your own locally. We’d always recommend checking the individual listing or guest information before you arrive so you know exactly what to expect – and can stock up on the way if needed.
Many of our cottages with log fires are also happy to welcome well-behaved dogs, making them the ideal base for a countryside break with four-legged companions in tow. To find the perfect place, you can also take a look at our dog-friendly properties.
Many of our boltholes are at their most magical in the colder months, when a roaring fire creates a truly warm welcome. Whether you’re looking for a festive escape, a post-Christmas retreat, or simply a cosy winter weekend away, a cottage with a log fire sets the scene beautifully.
The most important thing to come equipped with is an appetite for doing very little (in the best possible way). Alongside that, we recommend some delicious food picks, a good book or two, and anything else that makes a long, unhurried evening feel like a treat. If you’re planning to explore the surrounding countryside or coast, sturdy walking boots or wellies are a must – and a decent waterproof rarely goes amiss on a British winter break.
Few things set the scene for a romantic escape quite like a real fire, and a number of our cottages lend themselves beautifully to a couple’s retreat. Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, a birthday, or simply making time for each other away from the everyday, a private bolthole with a crackling log fire has an atmosphere that’s unbeatable.
Among our collection, you’ll find homes designed with quality time in mind: secluded settings, beautifully dressed interiors, and the kind of considered details that make a stay feel genuinely special. We’d suggest browsing individual listings to get a feel for each property’s character – or, if you’d like a personal recommendation, just ask. We know every home intimately and would love to help you find the perfect match.
