Tucked away on the edge of the splendid Goodwood Estate, with breath-taking panoramic views across the South Downs National Park, Stoneways is one of our most impressive country escapes.
The original residence comprised of two small cottages belonging to the Estate. History suggests that one of these cottages provided food, water and rest to workers and their horses en route to the neighbouring villages.
It's now a graceful Georgian-style contemporary country home, comfortably sleeping 10 guests, across five luxurious bedrooms. Each bedroom is sensitively decorated in muted tones, creating an air of calm throughout this elegant property. There's also a one-bedroom self-contained cottage in the grounds, with a separate kitchen, living room, and en suite shower/ wc. If required, the sofa can be made into a king size bed, increasing the overall capacity to 14.
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you might need for your stay, with a breakfast area to one side - the perfect spot for little ones, or pre-prandial drinks.
Beyond the kitchen, a refined, crescent-shaped dining room ideal for long lazy lunches, and special occasions.
Double doors open into a grand drawing room with comfy sofas, elegant artwork, and a large fireplace to warm your cockles on a cold, wintery night. There's also a beautiful grand piano and plenty of games to keep everyone busy.
The property has a superb games room with pool table, dart board and table tennis. This room can also be used as a double bedroom with en suite shower room, increasing the overall capacity to 16 guests.
Step outside and discover three acres of private land. Set amidst enchanted woodland, with grassy lawns and a delightful nature trail, the grounds are a magical place for children (and grown ups!) to explore.
Stoneways is the perfect haven for a family celebration, get-together, or peaceful country retreat. It is also available for events, and additional catering and housekeeping can be arranged in discussion with the owner.

Where to eat and drink
We love the Richmond Arms in West Ashling for their Sunday lunches and on a Monday evening they have a visiting wood-fired pizza van – great for the family. They also have some good local ales on tap.
What to do in the local area
We can’t not mention a walk up the trundle, straight from the front door. You can pick up a hot drink from Paddy at the T Box as you walk past. The views are fabulous, and the walk is just long enough to get some fresh air and burn off excess energy.
