Frequently Asked Questions

What makes your cottages genuinely family-friendly rather than just child-tolerant?

However luxurious, the best child-friendly cottages are those that extend a genuinely warm welcome to families. These are the houses designed to be lived in and enjoyed by everyone: those with games rooms, sports facilities, and built-in outdoor fun. A browse through our collection will show that we’ve hand-picked the perfect properties for family stays. Ultimately, when you feel at home, we know we’ve chosen wisely.

How many does a typical family cottage sleep?

Our family friendly properties range in size from cosy cottages sleeping four to large holiday homes that can accommodate multi-generational family stays. If you’d like to stay together, but preserve your own space, our portfolio also includes individual properties clustered together, like the Hazelbrook Estate

Is there outdoor space for children to run around?

Ample space is an essential for any family getaway. Our collection includes both coastal and countryside cottages, with the luxury of vast outdoor areas. From direct beach access to parkland, woodland, and gardens, you’ll find fresh air in abundance. Alongside this, many feature facilities such as fire pits, barbecues, outdoor games, and swimming pools, meaning children will love making memories outside.

Are the cottages safe for babies and toddlers?

Lots of our properties are baby and toddler friendly, and those marked as family friendly are the boltholes we’d recommend when staying with little ones. To save excess packing, many owners provide equipment such as cots and high chairs, so do let us know in advance if this would be helpful for your stay. We’ll always do our best to signpost if a bolthole has features you should be aware of.

What's nearby for families with children?

Our portfolio features family friendly cottages in West Sussex, Shropshire, Somerset and the Isle of Wight (to name just a few). These beautiful areas are perfect for shared adventures, whether you’re setting out to explore the South Downs or looking for local attractions. When you book, we’ll share recommendations specific to your property, but if you’d like help planning itineraries or coordinating activities, we also offer a bespoke concierge service.

Are family cottages dog-friendly too?

Yes, lots of our child-friendly cottages are also happy to welcome dogs – making them ideal for family holidays. Just check the ‘Finer details’ section for your chosen bolthole, to confirm it’s also pet friendly.

What's the minimum stay for a family cottage holiday?

We know that sometimes, you can’t get away for a whole week – especially if you’re part of a busy family. A short family friendly break can form the ideal pause button when you’re in need of a rest and reset. Booking options for lots of our houses range from just two nights to multiple weeks, so it should be easy to find a window that suits everyone. The minimum available stay might vary from property to property, so do check if you have a particular favourite in mind.
